Getting Sasuke back to the village is a major issue for Naruto. Meanwhile, Sasuke's quest for vengeance against Itachi, his brother and the architect of the Uchiha Clan's downfall, is a crucial plot point in and of itself. Upon confronting and vanquishing Itachi, Sasuke discovers a startling reality - the officials of Hidden Leaf Village had instructed Itachi to eliminate the Uchiha Clan in order to avert a coup. Itachi did it because he loved the village and didn't want to hurt anyone. After this realization, Sasuke alters his mind and chooses to exact revenge on the village, with the new goal of destroying Konoha.

### **Naruto's Development in the Pain Arc**

In the **Pain Arc**, a crucial plot point in **Naruto: Shippuden**, the commander of the Akatsuki, **Pain** (actual name **Nagato**), assaults Konoha and nearly obliterates the town. Naruto has finished training and is now much stronger than when he started. By perfecting **Sage Mode**, a formidable new form, he is able to compete with Pain on an equal level. It takes more than brute force for Naruto to defeat Pain. Naruto vanquishes Pain and, in a moving showdown, persuades Nagato that vengeance and animosity can never lead to genuine reconciliation. Because of his altruism, Nagato is able to bring back to life all of the villagers who perished in the attack. **Tobi**, whose real identity is **Madara Uchiha**, is exposed as the true architect of the Akatsuki as the plot develops. Madara starts the **Fourth Great Ninja War** after he captures multiple Tailed Beasts. He plans to use the **Infinite Tsukuyomi**, a potent technique, to trap everyone in a false reality and cast the planet into an unending dream. The ninjas of Naruto's village band together to fight in this conflict. Reconciling with Sasuke is just one of many critical and emotionally charged conflicts that take place throughout the war. When the real enemy and creator of the ninja world, **Kaguya Otsutsuki**, is revived and becomes an even bigger threat to the world, one of the biggest turns happens.

The Last Showdown Between Naruto and Sasuke

Naruto and Sasuke will fight one more battle when the conflict is over and the world is rescued. Despite his internal struggles, Sasuke is determined to use violence if necessary to alter the ninja world the way he sees fit.
